3s Nursery School Program

The following programs are offered for the 3s:

3 day 3s AM: 8:45-11:15 AM Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
5 day 3s AM: 8:45-11:15 AM Monday-Friday
3 day 3s PM: 12:15-2:45 PM Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
5 day 3s PM: 12:15-2:45 PM Monday-Friday

The teacher-child ratio is 1:8. Children must turn 3 by December 31st.

3 Year Old Curriculum

Emotional and Social Skills

  • Plays in groups of 2-3 children
  • Begins to take turns
  • Shares with friends
  • Enjoys independence by doing things for themselves
  • Uses words to describe personal feelings

Physical Development/Fine Motor Skills

  • Cuts on a line with scissors
  • Imitates drawing simple shapes
  • Strings beads
  • Uses art tools (crayons, brushes, glue, etc.)
  • Engages in sensory activities

Physical Development/Gross Motor Skills

  • Catches a ball with arms extended
  • Throws a ball purposefully
  • Walks up stairs with alternating feet
  • Rides a tricycle
  • Runs, walks, jumps and gallops
  • Hops on one foot
  • Walks on a balance beam

Creative Expression

  • Explores a wide variety of art media
  • Expresses self through artwork
  • Appreciates personal artwork and that of other peers
  • Sings a variety of songs
  • Experiments with a variety of instruments
  • Responds to music through movement
  • Acts out feeling and emotions
  • Participates in imaginative play alone and with peers

Cognitive Skills

  • Listens 10-15 minutes in a group setting
  • Follows 2-3 part directions
  • Stays on task for 5-10 minutes
  • Recognizes some basic shapes and colors

  • Counts to 10
